Student Legal Clinic
About the Legal Clinic
Activities
The main objective of the Student Legal Clinic at the Collegium Polonicum is to provide free legal assistance to people who, due to difficult financial circumstances, do not have the opportunity to use the services of a professional attorney.
Students involved in the work of the Clinic operate on a pro bono basis, which not only sensitises them to the needs of others, but also to the needs of others.
Students involved in the clinic's work operate on a pro bono basis, which not only makes them sensitive to the needs of others, but also supports the development of legal awareness in society.
Also, participation in the clinic allows students to develop interpersonal skills and soft skills through direct contact with clients.
Education process
The Student Legal Clinic offers students the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally through participation in workshops, training sessions and meetings with experienced practitioners.
Under the substantive supervision and support of the Coordinators, students acquire the knowledge, competencies and practical skills necessary for future practice.
The team of coordinators consists of lecturers from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), as well as experienced attorneys and legal counsels, which guarantees the highest quality of the counselling services.
Prisons
In addition to the standard on-call service, students also deal with correspondence with inmates in Prisons and Detention Centre.
Inmates approach the counselling centre by letter, asking, among other things, for help in changing a preventive measure or clarification of doubts about legal provisions.
For students, this is a unique opportunity to gain a better understanding of the functioning of these institutions and to gain practical knowledge of executive criminal law.
