Perseverance in the Cloister - Henryk Bereska (1926-2005)
Exhibition in the Collegium Polonicum Library
On 29 November 2018, an exhibition of documents from the collection of Henryk Bereska opened in the reading room of the Collegium Polonicum Library.
Henryk Bereska was one of the most highly regarded and versatile translators of Polish literature into German in the 20th century. The list of works translated by him includes all literary genres and all epochs: from Kochanowski and Mickiewicz, through Witkacy and Różewicz to Tokarczuk and Goerke. He is particularly credited with popularising contemporary Polish drama on German stages. Bereska was also a respected poet and an award-winning expert on Polish culture.
The exhibition can be viewed individually in the reading room of the Library of the Collegium Polonicum during its opening hours. Admission is free.
It is also possible to visit the exhibition with a curator in Polish and German.
